Tropic of Capricorn
BIVACK BUSH SAFARI
|
The Tropic of Capricorn (or the Southern Tropic) is the circle of latitude that contains the subsolar point on the December (or southern) solstice. It is thus the southernmost latitude where the Sun can be directly overhead. Its northern equivalent is the Tropic of Cancer.
The Tropic of Capricorn is one of the five major circles of latitude that mark maps of the Earth. As of 28 March 2016, its latitude is 23°26′13.8″ (or 23.43718°) [1]south of the equator, but it is very gradually moving northward, currently at the rate of 0.47 arcseconds, or 15 metres, per year. Flanked by the Mogalakwena River to the east and the mighty Limpopo River and Tuli Block of Botswana to the north, Bivack is a little known but precious African jewel.
From the hippos and elephants in the riverine forest of both rivers, to Eagles Rock High up on a rocky hill overlooking the vast Limpopo Valley stretching into Botswana, Bivack is a unique and unforgettable experience.
Wilderness and nature as far as the eye can see; clear and pollution-free skies, with nothing disturbing the volume of the stars; warm and friendly people.
Your experiences here will provide a memory that will continue to linger for the years to come: This is uniquely Bivack, the jewel of the bushveld. |
